CLOUPER MINI INTRO

Known more for its clones, Cloupor is a company not many know about. Taking its experience and expertise, the company has started creating its own original mods, targeted at advanced users.

One of its sleeper hits is the Cloupor Mini – one of the first “mini” mods to come out just before a slew of similar “mini” products exploded onto the scene.

With its clean lines and good performance, the Cloupor Mini can still hold its own against other mods in its size and price range.

PACKAGING & DESIGN

The Cloupor Mini comes in a nice box that’s made to look like it’s made of wood, though why decided to do remains a mystery.

Inside the box, you will find one Cloupor Mini Box Mod, a small screwdriver, spare magnets and screws, a retractable USB cable, a nice velvet pouch, and an instruction manual.

There is also a VIP card included which I don’t really know what it is used for. But it is a nice touch nevertheless.

The mod itself is a no-frills box mod. Made of metal, the mod gives off a premium feel. The back battery door is held firmly in place by a pair of magnets.

While you can snap it off with ease, it does not remove easily. Buttons are well placed, clicky, and don’t rattle as well.

One thing you’ll also notice is how small it is while holding it. When it first came out, it was the smallest 18650 box mod out in the market.

While that distinction is now held by the iStick Pico, the Cloupor Mini is still small enough for stealth vaping.

FUNCTIONALITY

For a mod this small, the Cloupor Mini packs quite a punch.

Able to put out up to 30 watts and fire atomisers from 3 ohms to 0.45 ohms, the majority of vapers will find this mod to suit their needs.

Sure, 30 watts doesn’t seem much now, especially when you consider other mini mods can now fire up to 80 watts or more, but at this price point the Cloupor Mini is just right.

Personally, I never go over 30 watts, hovering around 20 to 25 watts. Even with my 75-watt devices. If I still had my Cloupor Mini, I’d probably still be using it with pleasure.

The reason why I don’t have my Cloupor Mini anymore is because it broke.

The 510 connector got twisted off and the wire underneath it broke. I tried to have it resoldered, and while it worked for a while, the 510 connector still spun around, breaking the connection every so often.

I got tired having to resolder it every few weeks that I finally gave it away and got a new mod. I’m not sure if the reason for it breaking was a manufacturing defect, bad QC, or my own carelessness.

Nevertheless, if you plan on getting a Cloupor Mini, take care not to screw your atomisers too tight – which you will most likely do since the device has no spring loaded connector.

Another issue I had, which seems the norm across all Cloupor Minis, is the delay when firing the mod from sleep mode.

If you leave the mod unused for a while, it goes into a kind of sleep mode. You can wake the mod up by simply pressing the fire button to vape.

Other mods do the same, but when you fire it from sleep, it fires right away. With the Cloupor Mini, there is a slight delay of about a second before it starts firing.

While this is a small issue, it can get irritating at times. Especially when you are stealth vaping and want to grab a quick puff, only to draw air due to the delay.

One way around this is to press the fire button a few seconds before you put the mod to your mouth, which is a good idea.

But if you’d prefer not to change your natural vaping habits this probably will be a deal breaker for you.

DISPLAY

The Cloupor Mini’s display is great. Similar to what DNA and its chips has to offer.

You can easily read the resistance of your atomiser, the watts the mod is set to, how much battery is left, and how many volts your device is firing.

When not in use, you can turn the device off by clicking on the fire button five times. Do the same if you want to turn it back on.

To reverse the screen, you press fire and the up (or plus) button simultaneously. To lock the set wattage or voltage, press both up and down (or plus and minus) buttons together.

Finally, to switch between variable wattage and variable voltage mode, simply press the fire and down (or minus) button.

BATTERY DETAILS

Since the device uses removable 18650 batteries, the specs of your battery depends on what you put into the unit.

You can easily swap batteries out by sliding the magnetic door off. Despite being easily slidable, the door stays put securely, unless you drop the whole unit.

DISLIKES

  • Flimsy 510 connector – Unless I got a fluke, you should take care not to over tighten your atomisers lest the connector be unseated
  • One second delay from sleep – When firing the unit from sleep, the device fires with about a one second delay. While not necessarily a huge issue, others might find this a deal breaker
  • No spring loaded connector – If you plan to swap out different atomisers, be aware that the Cloupor Mini has no spring loaded 510 connector, which may cause some atomisers to stick out or not work at all

LIKES

  • Solid build quality – the metal enclosure gives the device a premium feel
  • Well-placed and quality buttons – the buttons don’t rattle and are easily clickable. Despite the plastic feel, you can tell the buttons are made to a high standard
  • Portable – Stealth vapers and those who want a powerful mod that’s easily hidden won’t be disappointed
  • Ease of use – Batteries can be swapped out easily, settings can be changed on the fly, and even the most newbie of vapers won’t have a hard time operating it

SHOULD YOU GET THE CLOUPER MINI?

The Cloupor Mini is a nice mini mod with features that match even the best of today’s larger mods… a year ago, that is.

While the design may be timeless, its 30 watt output cannot match the 75-200 watt outputs of today’s mods.

If you don’t mind a limit of 30 watts, then you might find the Cloupor Mini a nice mod to have. But only if you don’t mind a second firing delay from sleep mode, a frail 510 connector, or a lack of a spring loaded connector.

For the price, it’s not so bad. But add a couple of extra pounds and you can get a far superior product like the iStick Pico.
