Movkin Disguiser 150W Box Mod Review

MOVKIN DISGUISER INTRO

One of the more common complaints that vapers tend to have when using a box mod is having a tank that leaks fluid all over the unit.

It certainly is an annoyance, and one that you have probably had to deal with at one time or another if you have been using a box mod for a while.

There are some companies looking to get around this issue by placing the tank inside the unit itself, and one such model that follows that path is the Movkin Disguiser 150W Box Mod.

It’s a novel idea, but you are probably wondering whether it’s one that works.

Let’s take a closer look to see how well the Disguiser holds up.

PACKAGING & DESIGN

The first thing that you are going to notice about this device is the packaging. To say that Movkin have gone with a no frills approach is putting things rather mildly.

The unit comes in a clear plastic shell that has no marking on it, other than a little scratch sticker at the bottom.

The good thing about this is that you get a clear look at the device on the inside, which will help you decide if it suits your style.

The Disguiser is bigger and bulkier than a lot of other MODs you’ll find.

This is more to do with the fact that the tank is located inside the unit as opposed to on top, which is where most devices house their tanks.

While it is a larger unit, it does fit nicely in the hand, and the overall aesthetics of the Disguiser are quite pleasing.

FUNCTIONALITY

It does not come with a tank, but it did fit most tanks I tried it with.

The door that serves as the tank cover is easy to get off and on, as it is held in place by magnets. You’ll need to unscrew the bar that is in place, take out the drip tip on your tank, and then screw it into place.

Once in there, you can add the extendable drip tip that comes with the unit, put the cover back on, and you are ready to go.

The extension bar inside allows you to mount your tank on top, but I found that doing so makes the overall size a little too big for my tastes. Perhaps not best feature to use if you’re planning on going portable.

The device is turned on by clicking the power button 5 times, and then you can cycle through the settings, such as coil selection, etc. by clicking 3 times. You can also choose to show whether temperature or wattage is the main reading on the OLED display.

There are two responsive buttons located at the bottom of the unit so you can adjust the temperature and wattage settings.

The temperature settings run from 200 to 600 degrees Fahrenheit. The vapour quality is excellent in both wattage and TC mode.

One other thing worth mentioning is that when I put a tank on top, it didn’t sit perfectly flush on the MOD.

DISPLAY

The OLED display on the Disguiser is a good size, and is very clear and bright.

All the information you need to know is displayed, and the info can be toggled to read either vertically or horizontally. Navigating through the menu was also nice and simple.

The Disguiser is powered by a pair of 18650 batteries, but it should be noted that you’ll have to buy your own as they don’t come included as expected.

SHOULD YOU GET ONE?

While this is certainly not the worst box mod on the market, it is definitely one that is not going to appeal to everyone.

The ability to place the tank on the inside of the unit is great, but the downside there is that you end up with a device that’s bigger than many other box mods on the market.

For me this is better suited to home use than portable vaping due to its size.

It’s priced reasonably and quite fun to use.
