Vaporesso Veco One Silver and Black
VAPORESSO VECO ONE INTRO

Tube mods are so passé.

Their popularity peaked maybe three to four years ago, but nowadays, the box mod is king.

However, the simplicity, portability, and ergonomics of tube mods can’t be argued, which is why Vaporesso has come out with its own.

The Veco One is an updated tube mod fit for today’s market, targeted at beginners as well as advanced users looking to relive the glory days.

An all-in-one (AIO) kit, the Veco One is ready to vape out of the box, all you need is some eliquid.

It looks good and feels good, but does it vape good?

We shall see…

PACKAGING & DESIGN

The Veco One comes well-presented.

Inside, you’ll find the Veco One tube mod with a Veco Tank already installed, a preinstalled 0.3 ohm ceramic coil head, an extra 0.3 ohm coil head, a USB charging cable, a manual, warranty card, and a warning card.

The design of the mod is simple – a tube mod with a tank on top, and a firing button on the side.

Echoes of the past will come flooding back if you’ve ever used a tube mod before, and it feels great. The Veco One comes in black and silver, with the tanks matching color.

The silver ones have black accents, while the firing button is the same glossy silver for all variants.

The overall dimensions of the kit makes for a compact package, with a 22mm diameter and 110mm height.

The weight is a mere 95 grams, making the Veco One light, portable, and easy to carry anywhere.

FUNCTIONALITY

I’m predominately a box mod user and because of this I expected sub-par performance from the Veco One.

After all, how can a simple device match the advanced features of today’s box mods?

But, after taking my first direct lung inhale, I was pleasantly surprised. It doesn’t match the features of box mods, but the overall performance was excellent.

It’s a non-adjustable, regulated device that outputs a constant 40 watts of power. For such a small device without any settings whatsoever, this is pretty good.

This means you shouldn’t experience any drop off in power as you vape. While I tend to vape at around 50-70 watts, I found that 40 watts is a decent power setting for both good flavour and clouds.

Aside from firing the mod, the solitary button also lets you turn the mod on and off with the more standard 5 clicks.

Let’s move on to the battery where things go slightly downhill…

Vaporesso Veco One
BATTERY DETAILS

You get a 1500 mAh internal battery with this device.

To keep the size and ergonomics manageable, Vaporesso opted to eschew swappable batteries and keep things simple. However, since the Veco One puts out a constant 40 watts of power, battery life is abysmal.

You can expect getting a couple of hours of vaping before you need to recharge. Unless you are a light vaper and don’t chain vape, it may be a good idea to bring a power bank with you at all times.

This contradicts the portable nature of the mod since you’ll have to lug around an extra gadget, but such is the price for a mod this size.

TANK DETAILS

Being an AIO, a tank is included with the kit.

The tank has top fill, making it easy to refill, which is a godsend since you’ll be refilling quite frequently at only 2ml capacity.

The coil heads use the ECU system. If you’re not familiar with they ECU system, they employ a push/pull method of swapping out coils instead of unscrewing the coil heads.

While the need to replace the standard screw-on method may seem unnecessary (because honestly, how hard is it to screw and unscrew?), I did find the push/pull method easier and cleaner.

The tank’s performance came as a bit of a surprise. The flavour and vapour compared to most other AIO’s has been quite impressive.

I just wish the battery lasted long enough for me to continue using it throughout the day.

Vaporesso Veco One Sub Ohm Tank
DISLIKES

  • Battery Life – With just a 1500 mAh battery powering a consistent 40 watts, you can only expect a couple hours of vaping
  • O-rings – The o-rings can come off when you are dismantling the mod, and if you lose them, good luck finding replacements since the box doesn’t include spare o-rings
  • Capacity – With just 2 ml, you will find yourself refilling constantly

LIKES

  • Size – Small and compact, the Veco One an be used as a stealthy alternative to your box mod
  • Ergonomic – The ergonomics of a tube mod can hardly be beat, and to be able to handle one will make you question why you bother with box mods in the first place
  • Sub-Ohm Tank Included – The inclusion of a sub-ohm tank eliminates the need to purchase a separate one, especially if you are new to sub-ohm vaping
  • Extra Coil – Pre-built coils are convenient, but sometimes finding replacement coils can be a pain. By adding an extra coil, you can at least find more time to source extra ones when the first coil gives in
  • Top Fill – The 2ml capacity is not much, so you’ll be refilling often. Having top fill at least makes refilling easier
  • Affordable – The price of the kit betrays its performance. You are getting more than your money’s worth here
  • Consistent Output – Putting out a consistent 40 watts, you won’t have to deal with power drop off

SHOULD YOU GET THE VECO ONE?

Best suited to beginners and intermediate users, the Vaporesso Veco One is perfect as a back-up stealth mod.

The all-in-one nature of the Veco One with a sub-ohm tank included is a great gateway to sub-ohm vaping.

If you haven’t tried sub-ohm vaping before, this may be the best way to get into it without spending too much.

While performance is good, you may find the 40 watts lacking if you’re coming from high-powered box mods.

Advanced box mods still reign for me, but I’ll still keep my One around in case I need a small back-up to take on a day out.
